Robert "Buzz" Delton Sims, 86, of Oakland, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 30, 1935, and was the son of the late Noah and Jeanetta Sims.
Robert was an Army Korean War Veteran, serving 3 years with the rank of Spec 3 Technician. He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, camping, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his life companion of 30+ years, Mona Schultz; two sisters, Wilma Jean Beatle and husband Richard of Flagstaff, AZ., and Neva Gifford and husband Robert of Hampton, VA.; and three brothers, Monzel and Jim Sims of Vindex, MD., and Sheridan "Barney" Sims and wife Phyllis of Oakland, MD.
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 5 to 8 pm at C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, MD. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 11 am, with Sam Moon officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Sims family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels 104 East Center St. Oakland, MD 21550 or Southern Rescue Squad 200 Baltimore Ave. Oakland, MD 21550
