Robert L. Heginbotham, 80, of Mt. Lake Park died on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. Born on May 17, 1932 in Slippery Rock, PA, he was the son of the late Everett H. and Ruby (Claypoole) Heginbotham. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War. He retired from Bausch & Lomb after 38 years of service and had lived in Rochester, NY prior to moving to Garrett County in 1971. He had served as past chaplain for the Deer Park VFW, a member of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 71 in Oakland, an associate member of the Elks Lodge 2481 and a member and faithful attendee of Bethel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna Jean (Rodgers) Heginbotham; two sons, Bruce Gene Heginbotham of Charlotte, NC and Scott Allen Heginbotham of Houston, TX; two grandsons, Robert Bruce Heginbotham and Brice Parker Heginbotham; a brother Ronald Heginbotham and wife Joyce of Mt. Lake Park; and a number of nieces and nephews. A committal service will be held on a later date in Rocky Gap Veteran's Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Holcomb officiating and military honors accorded by the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 71 and Deer Park VFW Post 10077 combined honor guard. Bob's family would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to the hospice nurses and caregivers who took such wonderful care of him. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland.
