Robert Hanlin

Robert Elwood Hanlin, 94, of Oakland died on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital. Born on December 25, 1919 in Bayard, WV, he was the son of the late James and Nettie (Wilson) Hanlin. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II and the Korean War. After retiring from the Army, he worked as a custodian at Kitzmiller School. He is survived by a son, Kenneth E. Hanlin and wife Jacqueline Mary; a daughter, Peggy Simmons; three stepdaughters, Linda L. Bowman, Katherine Spiker and Beverly Beitzel; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Stewart) Hanlin, in 2011; three sisters, Mary E. Burgess, Blanche Evans and Katherine Phillips; and three brothers, Lawrence, Harrison and James Hanlin. Private interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery on Nethken Hill in Elk Garden, WV. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
