Robert Filsinger

Robert M. Filsinger, 93, of Deer Park died on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at his home. Born on February 16, 1919 in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Philip and Mary (Ruge) Filsinger. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. He was employed by the Garrett County Roads Department, U.S. Post Office, Ralph Pritts & Sons, and Island Creek Coal. He is survived by five children, Carol Craver and husband Rodger of Oakland, Barbara Jean Beard of California, MD, Larry Filsinger and wife Becky of Summerfield, FL, Doris Filsinger of Belleview, FL, and Ralph Filsinger and wife Esther of Sterling, VA; three grandchildren, John Canan, Mindy Marusek and Melissa Williams; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Filsinger and Barbara Pritts, both of Deer Park; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mace and Sandy Paugh of Deer Park. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Lindamood) Filsinger, in 1977; two children, infant daughter Linda Filsinger and Robert Martin Filsinger, Jr. in 1975; sisters, Frances Goetten, Ann Filsinger, Mary Reardon, and Ruth Filsinger; brothers, Philip "Babe" Filsinger, John Filsinger, and Charles "Mick" Filsinger. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, September 7th from 6 to 8 PM and Saturday, September 8th from 9 to 10 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. John P. Reardon officiating. Interment will follow in Deer Park Cemetery with military honors.
