Robert Delaney

Robert “Bob” A. Delaney, 77, of Eglon, WV passed away March 25, 2018 in Thomas, WV. He was born October 21, 1940 in Horse Shoe Run, WV a son of the late Burl and Dorothy Delaney. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta Carol Delaney, two step children, Mary Marvina Vandevander and Darren Harper, five brothers, Herb, Delmar, Jackie, Glen and Terry and one sister, Lois. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Harper Delaney, one daughter, Denise (Ret. Lieut. Col. Ethiel) Rodriguez, Beavercreek, OH, one son, Robert Earl (Dawn) Delaney, Red Lion, PA, one stepson, Jeff Vandevander, Hazelton, WV, three stepdaughters, Angela (Mark) Knapp, Bayard, WV, Bernice Vandevander, Kingwood, WV, and Felicia Harper, Rowlesburg, WV, two brothers, Harold and Carol “Key” Delaney, and one sister, Beatrice Plona, eight grandchildren, Mark Allen (Tabitha), Amanda Dee, Deanna, Bradley, Anthony, Mindy Jo, Zack, Marcus and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Delaney was a past owner and operator of Old Trails Inn from 1995-2014. He worked for General Motors for over 30 years as well. He was a member of FOE#936 of Davis, WV, Mountain Top Hunting Club, past member of the Mt. Grove Fire Dept. He attended the Maple Grove Assembly of God Church. He loved to hunt, fish, and watch the birds that he fed. He was an avid outdoors man and a hard worker all of his life. He took great pride in mowing his grass and the appearance of his lawn. His best friend and K-9 companion, Little Man, who went everywhere with him, preceded him in death in June 2017.
