Robert Douglas "Doug" "Buckeye" Canan, 65, of Terra Alta, WV died on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at his home. Born on September 26, 1949 in Crellin, MD, he was the son of the late Elwood Roy Canan and the late Marion Marie (McKenzie) Canan Weaver. "Buckeye" was an avid CB operator who greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren doing many things including riding 4-wheelers. He is survived by his long-time love and fiancee, Katherine McGinnis of Terra Alta; his children, Kenneth R. Canan of Streetsboro, OH, Jennifer Nelder and husband Billy of Kingwood and Mitch McGinnis and wife Amanda of Terra Alta; six grandchildren, Kacey, Dakota, Chelsea, Derek, Courtney and baby girl Canan; a brother, Kenneth E. Canan of Garrettsville, OH; a close cousin, Robert Canan, Jr.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Harold Weaver and a nephew, Jason Canan. According to his wishes, Doug was cremated and a private service will be held by his family. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
