Rita Kerns

Rita Lynn Kerns, 60, of Collinsville, OK went home with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa. Rita was born on February 21, 1959, in Oakland, MD, the daughter of Betty (Sweitzer) DeWitt and husband Buck DeWitt of Oakland, and the late Thurman Whitacre. She loved animals and riding horses and there was a special place in her heart for her first horse "Sandy." Rita enjoyed baking, reading cook books and watching cooking shows, especially "The Pioneer Woman". Most of all she was a strong lady who loved her husband, son and grandson more than anything except the LORD. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kenneth Kerns; a son, Brian Kerns; one grandson, Deacon Olsen; two sisters, Missy Whitacre and Marlena Krimminger; four brothers, Tim Whitacre, Gary Whitacre, Mark Whitacre and Onie Whitacre; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Onie and Elise Sweitzer and paternal grandparents, Wesley and Millie Whitacre. Friends will be received at the Loch Lynn Church of God, 8649 Gorman Road, Oakland on Friday, February 21, 2020, from 11 to 1 PM at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Robert Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. Flowers are appreciated however memorial donations may be made to the Loch Lynn Church of God, P.O. Box 2027, Oakland, MD 21550 .
