Richard L. Welling, 51 of Oakland died on Friday September 18, 2015 at the University of Maryland Center, Baltimore, MD, as the result of a motorcycle accident. Born on May 1, 1964 in Oakland, he was the son of Eloise (Bernard) Welling of Mt. Lake Park and the late George David Welling Sr. He was a graduate of Southern High School. He had worked for Westernport Foods Inc. and Keyser Save-A-Lot for over twenty years. Richard enjoyed watching all sports, hunting and riding motorcycles. He was a perfectionist when it came to his lawn. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his soul mate, Barbara Wilson of Keyser, WV; her two sons, Nicholas and Lucas Shoemaker of Burlington; and her two granddaughters, Isabella and Alaine; adopted son (dog), Harley Sparkplug Wilson-Welling; two brothers, David Welling & wife June, Bill Welling & wife Tammy; two sisters, Donnette DiSimone & husband Rick and Beverly Rock & husband Bob; two nephews, George and Brody; four nieces, Tabatha, Mindy, Fallon & Kira; numerous great nieces and nephews; and step nieces & nephews, Missie, Carrie, Joey and Nathan. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St, Oakland, MD, Tuesday, September 22 from 4 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 23 at the funeral home with Pastor Bobby Holcomb officiating. The family requests that friends be dressed "Rick-style." Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
