Richard "Dick" Uchic was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 13, 2021. He was born on July 5, 1942 in Thomas, WV to the late Walter Uchic and Sarah Peters. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Joann Keller Uchic, who passed away on August 11, 2020. He is survived by his brother, Mike Bennett, of Gresham, OR, his sister, Patty Innes, of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving, his daughter, Pamela (Uchic) Sayer, and husband, Brian, of Stafford, VA, his son, Michael Uchic, of Thomas, WV, his grandson, Bryce Clarke and wife, Christy, of Powhatan, VA, his granddaughter, Payton Clarke, of Thomas, WV and his great grandson, Grayson Clarke, of Powhatan, VA. Dick attended school in Thomas, WV, graduating from Mountaineer High School in 1960. He married Joann, his high school sweetheart, on June 20, 1964. They began their life together in Oxon Hill, MD. They relocated to Sterling, VA in 1974 where they lived for 40 years and raised their family. He was employed at LogEtronics Corporation in Springfield, VA in the early 1960s. He started as a service technician, working on cameras, printers, and rollers for major newspaper publishers. His work included travel around the country and the world. He then became a service mananger and ended his career there as a Vice President. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of LogE for 36 years. After his time at LogE, Dick joined Joann at Telos Corporation in Ashburn, VA. Dick and Joann retired from Telos in 2008. At that time, they returned to his childhood home in Thomas, WV where he lived until his passing. Dick was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a passionate appreciation and reverence for the outdoors. He also loved dirt bikes and spent many years competing in the GNCC circut. He was a man of great faith and used every opportunity to share with others the importance of knowing The Lord and receiving the gift of Salvation. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a Godly example and inspiration to all. Friends will be received at the Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, 567 Thomas Ave, Davis on Monday, January 18, 2021, from 4 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, with Rev. John Callaway officiating. Face masks and social distancing are required and if you or a family member are feeling ill, we ask that you stay home and visit with the family at a later time. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Thomas. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Uchic family.
