Richard Leroy Spitznogle, 59, owner of the Alpine Lodge/Sawmill Restaurant in Davis, WV died after a short battle with cancer March 1, 2014 at his cottage in the motel complex.
He was born February 19, 1955 in Morgantown, WV a son of the late Donald Rex and Phoebe Ann Burns Spitznogle. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Ann Holte Spitznogle, 1 son, Richard Paul (kellie) Spitznogle, Davis, WV, 2 brothers, Darrell (Judy) Spitznogle, Morgantown, WV, Donnie (JoAnn) Spitznogle, Orlando, FL, 1 sister, Barbara (Mitch) Stone, Morgantown, WV, 4 grandchildren, Brittany (Joe) Watts, Richard, Denise, and Cody Spitznogle and 4 great-grandchildren, Lexi, CJ, Layla, and Jameson.
Richard worked previously at Milby Company, a plumbing and heating firm in Elkridge, MD for the past 12 years. He enjoyed playing the guitar and rock & roll music, especially the oldies. He loved being in the presence of small children. He was also a purveyor of junk.
At the request of the deceased his remains were cremated. A private memorial service will be held at the Sawmill Restaurant in Davis on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice 1600 Crim Ave. Belington, WV 26250
