Richard Seaman

Richard George Seaman, 72, of Oakland passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Oakland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born on March 8, 1941 in Sanford, NY, he was the son of the late George J. and Jennie L. (Franskevicz) Seaman. He retired from Suburban Propane Company after 30 years as a service technician and served in the Army National Guard. In addition to spending time with his family, Richard loved turkey hunting and ice fishing. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Constance Marie (Morgan) Seaman of Cumberland; two daughters, Victoria Lynn Bowie of Prince Frederick and Samantha Ann Uphold of Eglon, WV; two sons, Warren Edward Philyaw of LaPlata and David Luther Philyaw of Gorman; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, August 13th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, August 14th at 9:30 AM with Rev. Donald J. Parson officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Garrett County Humane Society, PO Box 115, Oakland, MD 21550.
