Richard Hamrick

Richard A. Hamrick, 73, of Elk Garden, WV passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland surrounded by his wife and family. Born on November 18, 1939 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Carl R. and Dora Mildred (Mauk) Hamrick. He was a graduate of Hampshire High School and retired from Potomac Edison after 37 years of service. Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He never met a stranger and loved talking with everyone he met. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Charlotte (Dunithan) Hamrick; a son, Richard Hamrick and wife Aliesha of Morgantown; a granddaughter, Cecelia J. Hamrick, a student at Winona State University; a special niece, Tracey Burdock; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Sue Welch, Brenda Moore and Rue Worles. Friends will be received at the BURDOCK-FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Tuesday, March 5th from 6 to 8 PM. At Dick's request, he has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16th at 11 AM in the Nethken Hill United Methodist Church, Elk Garden, WV with Rev. Matthew Paugh officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Blue Ridge Chapter, 1700 MacCorkle Ave SE, Suite 141, Charleston, WV 25314, in honor of his niece, Courtney Fox Dunithan.
