Rex E. "Eddie" Deems, 94, of Oakland died on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on October 7, 1919 in Deer Park, he was the son of the late Ervin and Renna (Cooper) Deems. Prior to his retirement, Eddie was employed as a clerk for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching football games and especially enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marguerite Miller (McRobie) Deems of Oakland and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends are invited by the family to attend a graveside service which will be held in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Oakland on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2 PM with Rev. Lawrence Sherwood officiating. Eddie's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care he was given during his stay. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Activities Dept. of ONRC, 706 E. Alder St., Oakland, MD 21550. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland has been entrusted with the arrangements.
