Ralph "Gene" Liller, 71, of Oakland died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Garrett Memorial Hospital of Oakland, MD. Ralph was born November 3, 1940 in Oakland he was the son of the late Errice O. and Mary B. (Moon) Liller. Gene was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Japan. He was a member of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post# 71 Oakland and Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post# 10077, Deer Park. He was a retired coal miner having worked for Island Creek and Consol. He enjoyed driving and drove school bus in Garrett County for many years and later worked for Garrett Transit Service. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Sweitzer) Liller; two sons, Robert Liller of Oakland and James Liller and wife Tonia of Martinsburg, WV; a stepgrandson, Caleb of Martinsburg, WV; two sisters, Bertha Thayer and Cindy Shaffer both of Loch Lynn; sisters-in-law, Vesta Dolly Liller and Norma Liller; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Irvin and Sandra Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, Irven, Clyde, Elmer, Max and Delbert also two sisters, Clara Weeks and Jenny Ruth Liller. Friends will be received on Thursday, April 26 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at BURDOCK-FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 North Second Street, Oakland where a funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, April 27 with the Rev. Roy Liller and Rev. Russell Liller co-officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
