Ralph Lee

November 16, 1922 — June 12, 2017

Ralph M. Lee, 94, of Oakland died on Monday, June 12, 2017, at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV.  Born on November 16, 1922, in Preston County, WV, he was the son of the late Cal E. Lee and Mae (Moore) Lee Whitney.  He had been a lifelong dairy farmer who was instrumental in the organization of dairy herd improvement practices in Preston County.  Mr. Lee was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he enjoyed many activities including singing in the choir, serving on the board and volunteering in many ways.  He was also a lifelong member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and was a devoted volunteer for Community Action in Garrett County and assisted with the Meals on Wheels program.  In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed playing card and board games, and gardening.  He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara R. (Calhoun) Lee; a daughter. B. Dianne Winter and husband Alvin of Leesburg, FL; a son, Gregory C. Lee and wife Katherine of Oakland; three grandchildren, David J. Lee, Anneliese Lucier and husband Charles, and Erin Kaspar-Frett and partner Melissa; great grandchildren, Brooks, Jacques, Emmett, Maya, Bronwyn and Raven; and brothers in law, David Calhoun and wife Arlene and Clayton Hauser and wife Dorothy; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Philipps Mayle.  Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, June 16th from 5 to 8 PM.   A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, June 17th at 10 AM with Pastors Mark and LaDeana Teets officiating.  Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery, Aurora, WV.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Goodwill Retirement Communities, 891 Dorsey Hotel Road, Grantsville, MD  21536 or St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 318 E Oak St., Oakland, MD 21550.
