Paula Kisko

July 28, 1929 — November 15, 2012

Paula M. (Skubak) Kisko, 83, of McHenry, formerly of Pittsburgh and Johnstown, PA died peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2012 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Born on July 28, 1929 in Johnstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Milchak) Skubak. She was a housewife and so much more; she belonged to the PTA, was a home room mother, the first to volunteer whenever her children were involved. She was a member of the St. Veronica Sodality, was a member of St. Stephen's, St. Theresa's, Visitation, St. Elizabeth's and St. Peter's churches at various points in her life. While living in West Mifflin, PA, she was part of the committee to judge the decorations on "Twinkle Night" every December. She loved having company at the family cottage, where those who were invited or those who just stopped by could play crossword puzzle games, cards, or just relax. She enjoyed crafts of all types, but it was painting in several different media at which she excelled and for which she won many awards. She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Jones and Mari Vaughn and friend Bill; grandsons, Bill Vaughn, Edward Jones and Jason Kozlowski; granddaughter, Emily Jones; sisters, Bertha Morihlatko, Marylou Kristoff and husband Stephen, Francis "Skuby" Skubak, and Bettyanne Wilfong and husband Walter; and many, many nieces and nephews, all of whom were her favorites. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Edward Kisko; her son, Glenn Kisko; her daughter, Joanne Kisko; her brother, John Skubak II; son in law, Stephen Jones; and brother in law, John Morihlatko. Paula will be greatly missed by all who knew her; she was fun to be with and outgoing, always had a smile on her face and her laugh was contagious. She spent many weekends with her children, nieces and nephews on picnics and hikes. Dianne and Mari request that, in lieu of flowers, you tell someone that you love them and give them a hug. Arrangements are being handled by the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, MD.
