Paul Wise

Paul Warren Wise, 73, of Oakland, passed away at his residence on June 14, 2024, with his loving family at his side. Born on April 5, 1951, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Wayne Atlee and Anna Parks Wise.

Paul was a very humble, loving, caring, and hardworking man who always put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was a loving husband, father, and "Poppop". His two grandchildren were his pride and joy. Paul was a skilled carpenter who took pride in his work; he was known for his patience and fine attention to detail. After his retirement, he worked in maintenance for Appalachian Parent Association; a job he enjoyed very much and where he was treated like family. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, building models, listening to music, and especially spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Cathy Myers Wise; two children, Ramona Wise and wife Shannon, and Joe Wise and wife Jackie; two grandchildren, Atlee Wise and Mallory Wise and fiancé Brysen; three siblings, Wayne Wise and wife Brenda, Richard Wise and wife Jane, and Nancy Warren and husband John; two brothers-in-law, Butch Myers and wife Maggie, and Stuart Myers and wife Carie; a sister-in-law, Cebie Dorsey; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and his childhood best friend, Kenny Simmons.

Friends will be received on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Pleasant View Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, in the church, with Pastor Wally Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
