Paul Edward Weimer, 96, of Gorman, MD. died Friday, September 24,2010 at Garrett Memorial Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Born July 9, 1914 in Jordon Run (Streeby) WV, he was the son of the late Asa Harman and Mary Elizabeth (Keplinger) Weimer. He was preceded in death 3 years ago by his loving wife of 72 years, Alma A. (Jones) Weimer. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Arvella, one grandson, Earl D. Wilt,Jr., one son-in-law, David Schaeffer and a Great-granddaughter, Aliyah Teets. One brother, Lester Weimer, four sisters, Ethel Moorehead, Erma Davis, Bessie Berg and Lula Berg also Preceded him in death.

Paul was a Brethren by faith. He was a charter member and the oldest member of the Gorman volunteer Fire Department. He was also the last living original founder of the fire department. He was also a mechanic and farmer.

He is survived by four daughters, Thelma Wilt and husband Earl ,A. Darlene Reams and husband Jerry, Wanda Foley and husband John, all of Oakland, and Lola (Schaeffer) Williams and husband Wayne, Pasadena, MD; two sons, Lyle Weimer, Aurora, WV and Allen Darl Weimer and wife Louise, Oakland, one brother-in -law, Alvin "Speck" Jones, Elk Garden, WV; 19 Grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren and 13 great- great grandchildren

Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home P.A. 21 N 2nd St. Oakland, Md on Sunday from 6-8 pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 28, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Divine Hope Church, Loch Lynn with the Rev. John Moyer and Rev. Mel Menker officiating. Interment will be the Maysville, Cemetery Maysville, WV

Pallbearers will be grandsons Rick Wilt, Dave Schaeffer II , Todd Weimer, Mike Weimer, Brian Reams, and Sean Foley.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Gorman Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Helen Neel, 361 Lemoyne King Rd, Oakland, MD 21550.
