Owen Ravenscroft

Owen Thomas Ravenscroft, 56, of Oakland died on Friday, January 13, 2017, at his home and surrounded by his family. Born on July 24, 1960 in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Stanley M. and Marjorie E. (Fazenbaker) Ravenscroft. He was lovingly raised by the late James, Sr. and Anna Matthews. He had served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Ironworkers Local #568 in Cumberland. Owen was a member of the Crossroads Church. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed being in the outdoors, woodworking and helping others. He will be remembered as a person who loved to take care of his family, friends and neighbors. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Jill (Harvey) Ravenscroft; two children, Nikki Hayhurst and husband Jeremy of Fairmont, WV and TJ Ravenscroft and wife Missy (Ray) of Oakland; step children, Missy Owens, Jamie Streets and Brandon Streets; seven grandchildren; brothers, Roy, Virgil, Bobby, Ray, Jimmy and Kenny Ravenscroft; sisters, Mary, Joyce, Barbara and Connie; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Monday, January 16th from 4 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Crossroads Church, 17781 Garrett Hwy., Oakland on Tuesday, January 17th at 11 AM with Pastor Dave March and Pastor Barbara Fike officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cindy's Fund, PO Box 182, Oakland, MD 21550 or Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.
