Oliver Harry Shaffer, 85, of Oakland died on Friday, May 6, 2016. Born on February 26, 1931 in Loch Lynn, he was the son of the late Harry Cornelius and Bernice Otelia (Moomaw) Shaffer. He was a graduate of Oakland High School and had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict at which time he was stationed in Germany. Mr. Shaffer was retired from coal mining and had also worked for Power Construction Maintenance. He was a member of the Deer Park Church of God of Prophecy. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosealice (Paugh) Shaffer; a son, O. Barry Shaffer of Oakland; a brother, Wade Cornelius Shaffer of Maugansville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Marie Hendershot and Catherine Elizabeth Merrill and a brother, Daryl Le Mark Shaffer. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Monday, May 9th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, May 10th at 11 AM with Rev. Jimmy Bentley officiating. Interment will follow in the Deer Park Cemetery.
