Born on April 20, 1922, she was the eldest child of the late Robert E. and Freda Louise (Beckman) Reckner. She was a graduate of Oakland High School, a member of St. John's Lutheran Church Bittinger Parish and the Meadow Glade Homemakers. Olive was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother, a devoted grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She always had a smile, a warm word and a helping hand for all. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Baker of Swanton; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Reckner of Deer Park; and numerous nieces and nephews whose lives she touched. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Warren C. Groves, whom she married on March 22, 1941; a son, Warren E. Groves; a daughter, Grace L. Stone; her beloved granddaughter, Heather Wooden; two brothers, Robert and Harold Reckner; and a sister, Eloise Wensel. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, December 20th from 10 AM to 12 Noon at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Wally Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Swanton. Over the last ten months, Olive was lovingly cared for by the nurses and aides, "her girls", at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and earlier with her husband at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550. www.burdockfredlockfh.com
