Nowell Simmons

Nowell Blair Simmons, 68, of Oakland passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at his home. Born on February 7, 1947 in Cumberland, he was a son of the late W. Blair and Bertha Dawn (Landis) Simmons. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was known as a gentle soul who loved spending time with his family and helping others. He is survived by three children, Timothy S. Simmons, retired Navy Sr. Chief, and wife Brenda of Fredericksburg, VA, Amy C. Klingler and husband Bill of Nevada City, CA, and Jeremy Simmons and wife Stephanie of Glen Burnie; five grandchildren, Joshua Santos, Miranda Klingler, Shawn Simmons, Sarah Simmons and Adeilia Simmons; one sister, Carolyn Corley of Loch Lynn; former wife and friend, Victoria Johnson; and numerous cousins and dear friends. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, August 14th from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, August 15 at 11 AM with Pastor Matthew Paugh officiating.
