Norma Shahan

Norma Gean (Hershman) Shanhan,71,of Oakland, MD. passed away Sunday Nov. 21, 2010 at her home, following a long battle with cancer.

Born February 28, 1939 in Sinclair, WV she was the daughter of the late Neal and Annie Bell (Waybright) Hershman. She was also preceded in death by a son James Ray Hershman, a Grandson Jeffrey Dale Schooley and a brother Edward "Jake" Hershman.

Mrs Shahan was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and friends. Norma was a Methodist by faith, a member of the Oakland Elks Lodge BPOE #2481, Woodman of the World, FOP Lodge #99.

She is survived by her husband, of 46 years, Arlie Edward Shahan; four daughters, Linda Sue Schooley and husband Gary, of Fellowsville, Wv, Carla Winters and husband "Bradford" of Prunty Town, WV, Peggy Ann Jennings and husband "Rocky" of Evansville, Wv, Dora Jean Shanhan and companion William Helbig, Jr. of Oakland, MD and a son, Harry Shahan and wife Linda of Mesa, Az. She is also survived by two brothers, George Hershman and wife Sue of Sinclair, WV, Herbert Hershman and wife Ruby of Sinclair, WV, three sisters Shierline Barber of Grafton, WV, Doris Bell Ridenour and husband Emerson of Sinclair, WV and Joyce Nine and husband Charles of Sinclair, WV; three sister-in-laws, Dorothy Alexander and husband Dayton of Aurora, WV, Patricia Price and husband George of Deatsville, AL and Charlene Copeland of Oakland, and two brother-in-laws, Robert "Bob" Shahan and John Shahan and wife JoAnn of Oakland; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Home P.A. 21 North Second Street, Oakland, MD on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Uphold officiating. Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
