Norma Nye

Norma Jean Nye, 85, of Kitzmiller, MD, passed away on January 8, 2023 in Oakland, MD. Born on October 28, 1937, in Marlin, TX, the daughter of the late Fritz and Anita (Melcher) Otto.

Norma "Jeanne" graduated from WACO High School and later earned a degree from Essex Community College in Baltimore. She worked as a bookkeeper her whole life, and enjoyed that work before she retired. She was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bowleys Qrts, MD and also was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Baltimore before moving to Kitzmiller. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, bowling, BINGO, crafting and loved being active in her Senior Center. Jeanne's love of coffee, cookies and ice cream are legendary with her family and friends, as well as her evening ritual of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Nye of Milton, DE, Diane Nye-Paugh and husband David Paugh of Kitzmiller, MD, and Kim Crogan and partner Jeffrey A. Rayner of Baltimore, MD; a grandson, Zachary A. Crogan of Los Angeles, CA; and a brother, Robert Otto and wife Patricia of Georgetown, TX.

Ms. Nye's request for cremation will be honored. There are no services scheduled at this time. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., is honored to be serving the Nye family at this time.
