Norma Joan Bolding, 91, of Oakland, passed away peacefully on the evening of September 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born on January 27, 1933, in Oakland, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Ray and Maude Browning.

Norma was a graduate of Oakland High School, Capitol City School (DC General) of Nursing, and West Virginia University, where she earned her Bachelor's in Nursing. She achieved many accomplishments throughout her life. Her distinguished career spanned over 50 years, during which she served in various roles, including a young nurse in Doylestown, PA, emergency room nurse at Garrett Memorial, school nurse, Home Health coordinator, and Director of Nursing for the Garrett County Health Department. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women; was co founder of the Hospice of Garrett County and served on their board of directors for many years; was a member of the Garrett/Allegany County branch of the American Cancer Society, Co-founder and member of the Garrett County Alzheimer Support Group, Member of Maryland Association of Home Care, Member of the Maryland State Home Health Agency Advisory Board, along with many other community involvement groups too numerous to mention. She was very proud of her teams of nurses and staff, and would tell funny stories about her time at the health department and other places throughout her life. She also was a member at St. John's Episcopal Church in Deer Park. To her family, Norma was lovingly known as "Mom Mom." She cherished her time with her family, enjoyed traveling to Bethany Beach, and could often be found reading, playing cards, at family gatherings, or watching WVU or Pittsburgh Steelers football games.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, LeRoy Bolding; and her siblings, Velma Schenk, Pauline Deberry, Elinore Browning, Joseph Browning, and Richard "Dick" Browning.

Norma is survived by her four children, Linda Colaw and husband Mike of Oakland, Michael Bolding and wife Julie of Spring Run, PA, Mary Bolding Lewis of Oakland, and Stephen Bolding of Oakland; her cherished grandchildren, Nichole Jones and husband Christopher of Eustace, TX, Jennifer Genovese and husband Pete of Shepherdstown, WV, Taylor Kerch and husband Ryan of Topsail, NC, Caleb Lewis of San Francisco, CA, Cody Colaw and wife Carley of Downingtown, PA, Kevin Colaw of Columbia, MD, Michael Bolding of Newton, NC, Miriam Ramsey of Fairfield, PA, Joey Bolding, and Michaela Bolding of Spring Run, PA, and Jeremy Bolding of Garden City, KS. Additionally, Norma leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on October 19, 2024, at 10 AM in the Oak Park Church of the Brethren. A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM in the church with Pastor Carl Fike officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Deer Park, Oakland, or Bayard Fire Depts., or the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad.
