Nellie Mae Sell Poland, 83 of Hutton Rd., Oakland, MD died Sunday January 10, 2010 at her residence.

Born September 2, 1926 in Turner Douglas, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Lucy Alice (Bowman) Murphy. She was also preceded in death by her husbands Arnold Sell and Rev. Paul Poland; by a daughter Mary Alice Rice; by stepdaughter Ruth Ann Poland; by brothers Leroy Murphy, Allen Murphy and James Murphy; by sisters Susie Powell and Wilma Baker; by stepsisters Rosella Geckle and Mary Trimbath.

Mrs. Poland was a homemaker and a member of Corinth Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are one son John Sell and his wife Linda of New Creek, WV; two daughters, Carolyn Harsh and husband Bobby of Eglon, WV, JoDella J. Stahl and husband Michael of Albright, WV; son-in-law William Rice of Finzel; stepdaughter Janet Park & husband Harold of Oakland; one brother Harley Murphy of Freeport, WV; three sisters Helen Whetsel of Oakland, Carrie Benson of Oakland, Dolly Moats of Terra Alta; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, MD on Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Corinth Pentecostal Holiness Church with her pastors Paul & Cathy Snyder officiating. Interment be in Texas Cemetery in Horseshoe Run, WV.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of memorial donations, in her name, to the Building Fund @ Corinth Pentecostal Holiness Church.
