Nancy Uphold

Nancy Josephine Uphold, 78, of Oakland, died on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Garrett Regional Medical Center.  Born on August 25, 1943, in Oakland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Margaret (Brown) Welch.

Nancy was a 1961 Southern High School graduate and was a head start teacher and homemaker.  She loved gardening, being outside and enjoyed mowing her lawn and caring for her yard. She was also a NASCAR fan.

She is survived by one daughter, Laura Eckert and husband James, Jr., of Williamsport, MD; two sons, Steven Uphold of Oakland and Allen Uphold and wife, Larissa of Smithsburg, MD; grandchildren, Nicole Shindle and fiance Luke Reichard, of Williamsport, MD, James Eckert III of Mercersburg, PA, Jeremy Eckert of Williamsport, MD, Brandon Uphold of Swanton, MD, Danielle Uphold of Smithsburg, MD and Brianna Uphold of Smithsburg, MD; great grandchildren, Madison Shindle of Williamsport, MD, McKenna Shindle of Williamsport, MD, and Brady Shindle of Williamsport, MD; siblings, Mabel Lewis, Judy Friend, Clyde Welch and Denver Welch all of Oakland and Cleda Bulger and spouse, Tom of Central City, PA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clay Uphold,  a daughter Brenda Uphold and also multiple siblings and half siblings.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A. Oakland, on Monday, November 15, from 6 to 8 PM.   A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 11 AM with Pastor Russell Liller officiating.  Interment will follow in the Garrett Memorial Gardens.  The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family at this time.
