Mildred Skipper

Mildred L. Skipper, 82, of Mt. Lake Park died on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home in Oakland. Born on December 30, 1931 in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Wade A. and Edna (Custer) Bernard. She had retired as a Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court of Garrett County. Mildred had also been a member of the Lakeside Assembly of God Church. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed making crafts, sewing, gardening and being outdoors. She is survived by her children, Sharon L. Everd and husband Nicholas of Oakland, Richard W. Skipper and wife Barbara of Oakland and Ronald M. Skipper and wife Janine of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Cathell and husband Mitchell of Oakland, Wilma Bernard of Cumberland, and Mary Harvey and husband Joe of Oakland; four brothers, Leroy Bernard and wife Patricia of Oakland, John Bernard and wife Norma of Oakland, Robert Bernard and wife Joann of Oakland, and Alvin Bernard and wife Nancy of Swanton; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Sebert Skipper, in 1998. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, January 16th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and at the Lakeside Assembly of God, 18012 Garrett Hwy., Oakland on Friday, January 17th from 10 to 11 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Dennis Caton officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
