Mildred Droppleman

November 13, 1923 — February 11, 2010

Mildred M. [Peanut] Droppleman, 86, died in Keyser, WV on February 11, 2010 at the Heartland Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Peanut was born in Kitzmiller, Maryland on November 13, 1923. She was the daughter and only child of William [Bill] Keller and Lavina Spiker Keller.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband James Droppleman in 1999.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Kalbaugh and husband Sam of Keyser, WV and one son, Jim Droppleman and wife Cathy of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Krista and Amy Kalbaugh of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jonathan Kalbaugh of Greensboro, NC, Jeff and Jamie Droppleman of Oakland, MD and on great grandson, Tanner Droppleman of McHenry, MD.

After graduation from Kitzmiller High School in 1940, she moved to Washington, DC and was employed with the C&P Telephone Company as a switchboard operator for several years. Peanut returned to Kitzmiller and married James Droppleman in 1945. They were married for 54 years at the time of his death. When her children were in high school and college she returned to work with the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk and retired with 20 years of service in 1985.

Mildred attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Kitzmiller for 30 years until it closed.

Friends will be received at the Burdock Funeral Home, 710 Church Street, Kitzmiller, MD on Saturday, February 13 from 1:00 -3:00 pm. Funeral services will held be following the viewing at the Burdock Funeral Home at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Vickie Minnich officiating.

Internment will be in the Kalbaugh Cemetery at Nethken Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Kitzmiller Volunteer Fire Department at 249 E Main St, Kitzmiller, MD 21538 or the charity of your choice.
