Melvin Secrist

Melvin R. Secrist, 59 of Kitzmiller, MD passed away on Sunday February 7, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family. Melvin was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Born May 11, 1950 in Cross, WV, he was the son of the late Virgil and Pearl Secrist of New Creek. He was preceded in death by two brothers Virgil and Andrew Secrist.

Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Sharon Secrist; one son Michael Secrist and wife Julie of McHenry, MD; one daughter Kimberly Saville of Mt Lake Park, MD; one grandson Philip Saville Jr.; and three granddaughters Kayla Saville, Lydia Secrist and Abigail Secrist.

Also surviving are three brothers, William Secrist and wife Jean of Keyser, Roger Secrist and wife Darlene of Petersburg, Kenny Secrist and wife Betty of Jan Lew; eight sisters, Mary Harvey and husband Ellis of Elk Garden, Wilma Howdyshell and husband Paul of Kitzmiller, Linda Shillingburg and husband Jerry of Terra Alta, Lilly Moats and husband Wayne of Oakland, Kathy Elliot and husband Terry of Kitzmiller, Wanda Secrist of Silver Springs, Martha Beavers and husband Ellwood of Westernport, Betty Kidwell and husband Tom of Williamsport and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, 710 Church Street Kitzmiller, MD on Wednesday February 10, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 with Rev. Lee Robertson officiating.
