Melvin Arthur Butler, 57, of McHenry, MD died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at home. Melvin was born March 7, 1954 in Garrett County. He was the son of the late Orval Truman and Thelma A. (Ferguson) Butler.
He was self- employed as a stone mason for his business, Butler Masonary and attended the Lakeside Assembly of God Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Orval Butler.
He is survived by his wife- Sylvia J.(Brown) Butler; two sons- Randy Lee Butler and wife Kim of Front Royal, VA and Robert Truman Butler of McHenry; two sisters- Verna Elizabeth Speicher of McHenry and Lena Sue Thomas of Friendsville; three brothers- David Orr Butler of McHenry, Kenneth Eugene Butler of National Pike, and Ronald Ray Butler of McHenry; a grandson- Devin James Butler of Front Royal; step children- Cletus Bosley, Melanie Boone, Cheryl Boone and Loretta Whitacre, all of Oakland; nine step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; and one on the way.
Friends will be received on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 P.M. at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd St., Oakland, MD 21550.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Lakeside Assembly Of God, 18012 Garrett Highway, Oakland, MD with Rev. Dennis Caton officiating. Interment will be in Bayard Cemetery.
