Mayo Marvin Shreve, 86, of Oakland, passed away on August 20, 2024, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on March 22, 1938, in Gormania, he was the son of the late Arnold and Blanch (Cosner) Shreve.
Mayo attended Southern High School. He served in the United States Army Reserve. Mayo worked as a foreman for Highway Supply; servicing guard rail installation and maintenance. He was a member of White United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing guitar and going on picnics at Blackwater Falls. He was a car enthusiast and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn (Harvey) Shreve, to whom he was married on May 5, 1962; two children, Sandra "Sandy" Shreve and Wayne Shreve and wife Jackie; six grandchildren, Heather, Harley, Michael, Dustin, Ryan, and Holly; fourteen great grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Shreve and Gary Cosner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Shreve.
Friends will be received on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM, at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 11 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Barbara Rexroad officating. Interment will follow in the White Church Cemetery.
