Max Levere Corley of Loch Lynn Heights died on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at his home. Born on September 4th in Dartmoor, WV, he was the son of the late Harry Bruce and Carrie (Collier) Corley. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp having served as a Corporal for Radar Operations in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He had also been a sales manager for Midwest Corporation out of Nitro, WV. In addition to spending time with his family, Max was a stamp collector, a lifetime member of the American Philatelic Society, and an avid reader who particular enjoyed reading about history. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carolyn (Simmons) Corley; two children, Sharon (Corley) Spadafore and husband Lou and Max Corley II and life partner Dede Kelly; grandchildren, Max Corley III and wife Kristen, Bethany (Spadafore) Ayoub and husband Albert and Anthony Spadafore and wife Angel; great grandchildren, Will and Declan Corley, Sean, Sophia and Chloe Ayoub, and Serafina Spadafore; a sister, Shirley Sturm and husband Eugene; a brother, Kent Corley and wife Coda; a sister in law, Mary Ann Corley; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene (Smith) (Corley) Felton; sisters, Lucille Malcolm and Dare Corley; brothers, Rex Corley, Bernard Corley and Lee Corley; sisters in law, Gay Corley and Amelia Corley; and a brother in law, Woodrow Malcolm. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, May 13th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 14th at 11 AM with Pastor Arthur Malcolm officiating. Interment, with military honors accorded by the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post #71 and the Deer Park VFW Post #10077, will be in the Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HART for Animals, PO Box 67, Oakland, MD 21550.
