Mary Louise Bittner, 78, of Oakland, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on March 9, 1941 in Accident, MD, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Myrtle (Upole) Bittner. Growing up on the farm, Louise developed a deep love and respect for nature. She enjoyed being outdoors and is fondly remembered as being the “Aunt” who took everyone fishing. She was a perfectionist by nature and her attention to detail showed in her everyday life and her construction labors throughout the years. Louise attended Oakland Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed listening to Christian music with her sister Loretta. She loved spending time with her family.
Louise is survived by six siblings, Warren Bittner and wife Lynn of Wadsworth, OH, Carol Vance and Bobby Friend of Oakland, Wayne Bittner and friend Thurman of Barberton, OH, Dorcas Kitzmiller and husband Dick of Oakland, Loretta Ridder of Oakland, Herbert Bittner and wife Barbara of Cleveland, OH; a special niece Brenda Beckman and friend Ron Murphy who were devoted to and cared for Louise in her later years; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by five siblings, Ernest Bittner, Edith Bittner, Janet Duggins, Jessie Glotfelty and Hazel Stewart.
In accordance with her wishes, Louise will be cremated and no services are planned. Louise’s family would like to thank Sister Tichnell for her faithful visiting and her caregivers, Ester Wilt and Racheal Shahan for the care and companionship shown to her. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad, 200 Baltimore Avenue, Oakland, MD 21550. Arrangements have been entrusted to the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland.
