Mary Ellen Wotring, age 75, of Oakland, MD passed away at home surrounded by her family on December 2, 2020. She was born February 15, 1945 in Hanover, PA; a daughter to the late George and Louise (Paugh) Itnyre.
Mrs. Wotring worked primarily as a secretary throughout her life but had multiple places of employment, including the United States Government, Town Council and the Mayor. She worked as a bookkeeper for Wotring Builders, the Coca Cola Plant, and as a cashier for First United. She enjoyed sports, reading books, and puzzles. Mary was proud of her family and loved spending time with them. She never met a stranger, loved talking with people, and was known as a great listener. She was always available to lend a helping hand to those in need.
She is survived by the love of her life, Gary Wotring, whom she married on February 10, 1964. Also surviving are one son, Steven Wotring and wife Jodie, Oakland, MD, one daughter, Cheryl Wotring-Stolbom, Oakland, MD, eight grandchildren, Brandon Wotring and wife Miranda, Melodie Tasker and husband Ryan, Megan Biser and husband Rob, Madison Inman, Rick Wotring, Tiffany Georg and husband Brian, Josh Wotring, and Hannah Wotring, three step-grandchildren, Chris, Emily, and Maria Kisner, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous aunts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Wotring, Jr., and two sisters, Sally Bowman and Nancy Bloom.
Mrs. Wotring’s request for cremation will be honored. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, Oakland is honored to be of service to the Wotring family at this time.
