Mary Watkins

Mary A. Watkins, 90, of Thomas, WV died on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas. Born on July 6, 1922 in Bayard, WV, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Agnes Delsignore. She operated a bed and breakfast for many years and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post #71 in Oakland, the Rowlesburg VFW, and the Bayard Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years. She was also a former member of the Mt. Storm Lions Club. She is survived by a son, Lewis Franklin Watkins of Lewistown, IL; grandchildren, Paul James Watkins, Pennie Hanlin, Danny Jo Watkins and Michael J. Watkins; several great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Joetta Watkins; a sister, Elizabeth Edgar; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Paul Watkins, in 1986; a son, James Michael Watkins; and a daughter, Ernestine Watkins. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Wednesday, February 13th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, February 14th at 11 AM with Fr. Timothy Grassi officiating. Interment will follow in Aurora Cemetery, Aurora, WV.
