Mary Ann (Beckman) Simms, 65, of Mt. Lake Park, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at her residence. Born on May 13, 1954 in Garrett County, Mary is the daughter of the late Claude Franklin and Lola Almeda Ellen (Murphy) Beckman. Mary was a graduate of Southern Garrett County High School and worked as a secretary for various businesses throughout her life. She was a lifelong member of the Apostolics of Oakland Church. Mary was a loving “Grammy” to her grandsons. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family including her numerous nieces and nephews. She enjoyed looking for bargains at flea markets, reading, sewing and home decorating. Mary is survived by her husband of 39 years, James R. “Jim” Simms; a daughter, Angelina Simms-Fuller and husband Donald of Mt. Lake Park; two grandsons, Andrew and Joseph Fuller; siblings Leona Sweitzer of Kitzmiller, Judy Sweitzer and husband Dave of Deer Park, Jim Beckman and wife Brenda of Corinth, Sue Wolf and husband Lee of Swanton, Donna Tasker and husband D. L. of Parsons, Wayne Beckman and wife Janie of Oakland, Barbie Beckman of Frederick; brothers-in-law, Chuck Hardesty of Arcadia, Fl, Bill Simms and partner Margie Miller; sister-in-law, Helen Schrock and husband Ron, all of Oakland. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Hardesty; an infant niece, Katelynn Sweitzer and a brother-in-law, Porge Sweitzer. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at the Apostolics of Oakland, 600 Spruce Street, Mt. Lake Park, on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 2 PM with Pastor Pascal Crites officiating. Following the service, the celebration will continue with a food and fellowship gathering in Sanders Hall from 3-6 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Deer Park VFW Post #10077 Ladies Auxiliary or to the Apostolics of Oakland Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland.
