Mary V. Naylor, 94, passed May 19, 2022 at her home in Oakland, Maryland. She was born May 26, 1927, in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Mary was the daughter of the late Edwin V. Edmiston and Virginia H. Haas. She was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. Mary graduated from Sacred Heart Nursing School, 1948. She volunteered at the Oakland Red Cross Blood Bank, Meals on Wheels, and was a long-standing member of the local bridge club. Mary fostered a deep commitment to her home and family. She took such joy in raising six children - three girls and three boys. Mary had many special talents including embroidery, cross-stitch, sewing, and cooking.
Mary is survived by her six children, Christine Naylor-Henry (Doug), Teresa Scott (Larry), Edwin Naylor (Cindy), David Naylor (Alison), Sharon Holesh (Greg), Roger Naylor, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as two sisters Tibby Reddy and Helen Price. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Allen Naylor, her sisters Annabelle Causey and Jean Delisi. Mary was fortunate to be cared for by family and five outstanding caregivers.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated with Father Tom Gills at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 208 S. 4th St., Oakland, Maryland on Wednesday May 25, 2022, at 12 PM. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Hospice of Garrett County, Inc. P.O. Box 271, Oakland, Maryland 21550 or St. Peter the Apostle Church. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
