Westernport

Mary Margaret "Marg" (Martin) Meyers passed peacefully on April 7, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA. Marg was born on May 8, 1938, and was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Joseph "Gannie" and Genevive (Curran) Martin; her beloved husband, John F. "Jack" Meyers Jr.; cherished daughter, Margaret Meyers; brother, John A Martin; brothers-in-law, Fred Meyers, John Mertz, Frank Gavin, and Gary Rymer; sisters-in-law, Janet Martin and Jean Meyers; and nephews, Francis, Michael and Jack Mertz.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay Duckworth and husband, Harry, of Lemont, PA; her daughter, Karen Meyers of Greensboro, NC; her granddaughter, Melissa Duckworth of State College, PA; her grandson, Luke Duckworth of Lemont, PA; and her "bonus" children, Vic Cueva of Westernport, MD and Pat Gravley of Greensboro, NC. Additionally, she is survived by her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Margie Rymer of Middlebourne, WV, Joan Gavin of Boalsburg, PA, Francis and Mary Anne Meyers of Frostburg, MD, James Meyers of Dayton, OH, Mary Anne Mertz of Westernport, MD, and Lana Meyers of Webster Groves, MO, along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

After sending her youngest child off to school, Marg began working at the Piedmont Cable office, where her incredible work ethic kept her with the company through several ownership changes, eventually transitioning to the Frostburg Comcast office. She retired in 2004, as the office manager, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and commitment.

A natural hostess, Marg always made her home a haven for friends, family, and even strangers. She was known for opening her doors to those who needed a cup of tea, a warm meal, a kind word, or simply a place to be. She had a special knack for knowing exactly what her guests liked, and she kept snacks on hand for the frequent visitors who became like family. Marg also carried a gentle worry that there might never be enough food for a crowd, though it was never a problem, and in fact she became an expert at knowing the exact size of container required for leftovers.

Marg maintained deep and lifelong friendships with many people who crossed her path. Her classmates from the St. Peters class of '56 were lifelong friends and remained meaningful parts of each other's lives. Jack and Marg enjoyed socializing and dancing with some of their close friends who became family, including Mary & Ronnie Welch and Joe & Gloria Shillingburg. She had an exceptional ability to make others feel loved and valued, and her friendships were a testament to her warmth and devotion.

Though Marg never quite mastered the art of being organized, she found joy in the process. Her love for simple tools, like rubber bands and small containers, became symbols of her unique way of holding things together, both literally and figuratively.

With a spirit that never stopped imagining, Marg enjoyed gazing at the sky, seeing shapes and stories in the clouds. Her ability to find beauty and meaning in the world around her, no matter how small or fleeting, was a reflection of the wonder she inspired in others. She taught those around her to look for beauty in the unexpected, whether in the form of a perfectly shaped cloud or a well-placed rubber band.

Friends will be received at Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes - Piedmont Chapel, 31 Jones St., Piedmont, WV, on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Divine Mercy, Saint Peter's Church in Westernport, MD, on April 11, 2025, at 11 AM. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Saint Peter's Catholic Church of Westernport, MD or World Central Kitchen at wck.org/donate.

In her final days, we shared stories from others about the meaningful impact Marg had on their lives. Ever humble, she was completely unaware and felt blessed to hear those stories. In her honor, show grace and kindness to those who need it, preferably over a bite of chocolate or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Keep her laugh and smile in your heart.
