Mary Elizabeth Eli"sab"betta (Cianfaglione) Gennantonio, 99, went to her heavenly home on October, 24, 2021. She was born in Douglas, WV, on March 18, 1922, a daughter to the late Nunzio Cianfaglione and Emma Marie (Lambruno) Cianfaglione.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Paul Thomas Gennantonio, of Highland, MD, Elizabeth Ann "Betty Ann" Lampoy of Kalamata, Greece, Charles Joseph and wife Darla Gennantonio of Thomas, WV; one brother, Andrew Junior Cianfaglione of Painsville, OH; four sisters, Eleanor Roberts and husband Bruce, of Silver Spring, MD, Patricia Smith and husband "June" Hobert, of Ashton, MD, Christiana Beach, of Silver Spring, MD; five grandchildren, Jonathan Gennantonio, Christina Lampoy, Michael Gennantonio, Trica And Alina Gilmore Gennantonio , six great-grandchildren, Yiannos, Charles Hunter, Grayson, Griffyn and Saylor; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
On November 22, 1941, she married Paul Joseph Gennantonio who preceded her in death in 1986. Also preceding her in death, one grandson, John Lampoy; three brothers, William "Gig" Cianfaglione and wife Nelda, Thomas "Mossie" Cianfaglione and wife Selma, Joseph Nicholas Cianfaglione, and wife Margaret; one sister, Emma "Tootsie" Cianfaglione; brother in-law, Rodger Beach; sister in-law Carolyn Meyers Cianfaglione; son in-law, Bill Lampoy and daughter in-law, Josephine "Snookie" Lamont Gennantonio.
Mary was a graduate of Thomas High School. She enjoyed cooking, loved spending time with people, and never met a stranger. She was a devout Catholic who served meals to hundreds of children over the years through the church. Mary also was employed by Jim Propst at Mountain Top Market for over 30 years.
Visitation will be private to the family. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 am, Monday, November 1, 2021 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Martin Smay as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Gennantonio family at this time.
