Mary Friend

April 3, 1932 — November 10, 2017

Mary Elizabeth (Lewis) Friend, 85, formerly of Mt. Lake Park, died on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Cherry Hill Assisted Living.  Born on April 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Blanche F. (Fulmer) Lewis.  Mary was an old fashioned homemaker.  She was all about caring for her parents, children and grandchildren.  She was an amazing cook who spent much of her time canning, baking and making beautiful memories with her family in the kitchen.  Mary was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Mt. Lake Park where she was also part of the women's group.  She also was an avid reader and enjoyed painting ceramics.  Mary is survived by two children, Charles "Chuck" Friend and wife Lois of Oakland and Lois Bailey and husband Gary of Jacksonville, MD; four grandchildren, Jennifer Friend-Robinson and husband Rob, Ben Friend and wife Brittany, Zach and Zoe Bailey; one great granddaughter, Makenzie Friend; siblings, Leona Nazelrod, Robert Lewis and wife Mabel and Charlotte Eidman; numerous nieces and nephews; and a life-long friend, Dolly Liller.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Boyd A. Friend in October 2014; and two brothers, Jack and Bradley Lewis.  Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and again on Monday, November 13 from 10-11 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Chris Duckworth and Rev. Mark Hickman officiating.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271 Oakland, MD 21550.  Mary's family would like to thank the staff of Cherry Hill Assisted Living for the care and compassion shown to Mary during her time there.  Condolences for the family may be made at www.csfredlockfh.com
