Mary Floyd

August 17, 1923 — March 6, 2014

Mary Ellen Floyd (Smith), 90, left this world to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 6, 2014 surrounded by family.

She was born August 17, 1923 in Harman, West Virginia to the late Henry and Dollie Smith. Mary loved cooking and was a talented seamstress. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and loved ones. She was a woman of great faith and cared for anyone in need. Mary retired from Summit County Juvenile Court and was a long time member at Bethel Church of Tallmadge.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Paul Floyd; brothers, Harry, Paul, Earl, Everett, Willard and Carl; Sisters, Jocie Cooper, Gladys Harper and Irene Judy.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Joe) Newberry and Virginia Patrick; grandchildren, Holly Harbuck, Wendy Shelestovich, Heather Wilson, Hallie Codner and Paula Eggler; 13 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Virginia Smith, along with many very loved nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends and family may call 2-5 pm on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305 with a casual time of sharing around 4:30 pm. Mary will return to Harman, WV where family and friends will be received 5-8 pm on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Dry Fork Assembly of God. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 with visitation one hour prior at the church. Final resting place will be at Smith Cemetery in Harman, WV.
