Marlin "Buckwheat" Sherwood

Marlin “Buckwheat” Sherwood, age 63, of Kitzmiller, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at the Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on July 21, 1957, he was the son of the late Regina Sherwood Newlin.

Buckwheat was a friend to everyone. He loved to visit and talk with people whether he knew them or not. He enjoyed taking rides in coal trucks and his side by side. Fish feared him and he enjoyed many happy times down by the river or by the lake reeling them in.

Buckwheat is survived by two brothers, Calvin Sherwood and wife Cindy of Kitzmiller and Raymond Sherwood and wife Audrey of Oakland; nieces, Amy Parks and husband B.J. of Buckhannon, Becky Rodeheaver and husband Scott of Oakland, Christy Conner and husband Kevin of Illinois; aunts, Brenda Sherwood and husband William, Helen Berg and husband Thurman.

Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church Street, Kitzmiller on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 11 AM with Rev. Lee Robertson officiating. Interment will be held in Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden, WV.

Buckwheat's family would like to thank the Kitzmiller community and many coal truck drivers for sharing rides and always keeping an eye out for him during his daily adventures.
