Mark Stephen Clapper, 50, of Oakland died on Monday, September 22, 2014 at his home. Born on March 8, 1964, he was the son of LaRayna (Gawer) Clapper of Jefferson City, Missouri and the late William Oba Clapper. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Persian Gulf War and had been stationed in Germany and Ft. George G. Meade. Mark was a former TFC for the Maryland State Police and had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 71 in Oakland. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Karen L. (Nelson) Clapper of Oakland; his children, Ashleigh B. Clapper of McHenry, Kaitlynn N. Clapper of Oakland and Michael S.W. Clapper of Oakland; a brother, Phillip Clapper of Chesterfield, VA; and a special nephew, Gregory Clapper. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael William Clapper. A memorial service will be held in the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, September 26th at 7 PM with Rev. Dr. Chip Lee officiating.
