Marjorie Carole (White) Sharon, 88, of Grantsville, passed away on October 13, 2023, at Goodwill Mennonite Community in Grantsville. Born on May 21, 1935, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Carl Roma and Laura Nina (Troxell) White.
Margie was passionate for travel of any kind. She was blessed to travel to many US national parks, spent several weeks a year at the beach with her family and friends, and visited Alaska with her daughter, Laura and family. She and her brother, Richard, vacationed in England and France and she and her friend, Jeanne, enjoyed time together in Germany. Margie was always looking for the next adventure, to include her sister, Pat, or her friend, Sandy. Her children recall that Mom always enjoyed just going for a ride to get ice cream, see the change in color of fall, or simply to get away. Margie was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, the Ladies Auxiliary Holy Cross, Altar Guild Holy Cross, Beagle Club, and Telephone Company Pioneers.
She is survived by her four children, Laura Behrens and husband Paul of Greenfield, IN, Arlene Gavitt and husband John of Winchester, VA, Robert Sharon and wife Tracy of Grottoes, VA, and Thomas Sharon and wife Cindy of Oakland; eight grandchildren, Mark Amann and wife Angie, Alesia Hartman and husband Cheyenne, Kelli Payne and husband Jeff, Joshua Sharon and wife Brittany, Jessica Meyers and husband Bryson, Jonathan Sharon, Michael Sharon, and Daniel Sharon; twelve great grandchildren. Margie is also survived by her sister and best friend, Patricia Brant and husband Darius of Phoenixville, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Sharon, Jr., on March 27, 2012, and three brothers, Richard, Leonard, and Thomas White.
Ms. Sharon's request for cremation was honored. A celebration of life will be held at 2PM on Friday, October 20, 2023, in the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Leatherman officiating. A luncheon will follow in the social hall of the church.
The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., is honored to be serving Margie's family at this time.
