Margaret Deems

Margaret Ann Deems, 78 of Loch Lynn, MD passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital following a three year battle with lymphoma.
Born June 4, 1931 in Oakland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Herbert A. & Bessie (Bowman) Shaffer. She was also preceded in death by her husband William C. Deems and by one brother, Herbert Shaffer.
Margaret was a graduate of Oakland High School, Class of 1948 and had worked as a bookkeeper for Columbia Gas Company, A.D. Naylor's and for Dr. Grant's medical office. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Mtn. Lake Park.
Surviving are one step-son, George Deems of Malvern, AK; one stepdaughter, Ann Hetrick of Oakland, MD; 5 step-grandchildren; one sister Winifred Harvey of Oakland, MD; numerous nieces & nephews.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in her name to the Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad or Bethel United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, 21 N. Second St., Oakland, MD on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 10 a.m. until 11:00a.m.
Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating. Interment will be private in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
