Mahlon Yost

Mahlon Wade Yost, 81, went with our Lord on July 18, 2012 with his family by his side. Delivered by angels on June 8, 1931 in Oakland, he was the son of the late Harry, Sr. and Sarah (McKenzie) Yost. Mahlon was a graduate of Oakland High School and worked at the A&P store in Oakland. In 1947, he joined the Army National Guard and retired from Company "C" 121 Engr. BN in 1971 after 23 years of meritorious service as the rank of Captain. He was also a retired State Highway Administrator after 24 years of service. Mahlon was a member of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 71 in Oakland and held several posts during his lifelong membership. He was also a member of the Elks #2481 in Oakland. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Glendora L. (Cooper) Yost; three daughters, Brenda Yost of WV, Susan L. Yost-LaFrance and husband Donald of TN, and Jessica Yost of NY; one granddaughter, Amber Yost of NY; five great grandchildren; a sister, June Holkamp of KY; brothers, Harry Yost, Jr. of Oakland and William Yost of VA; also several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Yost. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A. 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, July 22nd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, July 23rd at 10 AM with Rev. Donald Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in Garrett County Memorial Gardens. Mahlon's family would like to especially thank Dr. Mark Dominick, Dr. Donald Richter, Dr. Charles Walch, Dr. Alida Podrumar, Dr. David Gellar, Dr. Jana Brown, Schwab Family Cancer Center, UPMC, Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Greggs Pharmacy, PharmaCare, and all of the loving and caring associates and staff at these facilities.
