Luther Moon

Luther William Moon, Sr., 82, of Oakland, MD, died on Friday, January 3, 2025, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born on August 26, 1942, in Oakland, he was the son of the late Albert William and Hallie Pearl Moon. 

He was a carpenter in the Local 1024 Union. He enjoyed hunting with his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with family and loved ones. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret Laura (Tichinell) Moon; daughters, Tina Martin and husband Myron and Cheryl Moon and companion Dave Crawford; sons, Luther Moon, Jr. and wife Denise and James Moon and companion LeeAnn Wilcox; grandchildren, Myron Martin and wife Megan, Ryan Martin and wife Destine, Tiffany Martin, Katlyn Shreve and husband Taylor, Dustin Werdebaugh and companion Maria, Nicole Ferguson and companion Bo, Brooke Ferguson and companion Nick, and Kamryn Miller; and thirteen great grandchildren. 

Friends will be received at the Walnut Bottom Assembly of God, 1014 Walnut Bottom Rd., Swanton, MD, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 12 to 1 PM. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM with Pastor George H. Tichinel officiating. Interment will follow in the Walnut Bottom Cemetery.
