Luther Earl McLaughlin, 77, of Oakland went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital. Born on November 22, 1937 in South Middleton, PA, he was the son of the late Harold and Mary Ann (Weaver) McLaughlin. He was a veteran of the United States Army having proudly served his country. He was a master electrician, plumber and heating technician. He was a faithful member of the Corinth Pentecostal Holiness Church. Luther was an avid reader and supporter of Southern High School athletics but, most of all, he delighted in spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be remembered as a man who was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Whitacre) McLaughlin, to whom he would have been married 56 years next month; four children, Rev. Cathy Snyder and husband Rev. Paul of Oakland, Michael McLaughlin and wife Jeanie of Ellerslie, Dave McLaughlin and wife Kendra of Oakland, and Joshua McLaughlin and wife Cassandra of Cumberland; 12 grandchildren, Whitney Smith, Jonathan Snyder, Macy McLaughlin, Lauren McLaughlin, Abby McLaughlin, Landon Todd, Clay Todd, Hayden McLaughlin, Kaysi Todd, Bryer Saville, Gabriel Saville and Alexandria Saville; 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Blaine McLaughlin; a sister, Joanne McLaughlin; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur McLaughlin. Friends will be received at the Corinth Pentecostal Holiness Church on Friday, January 23rd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and on Saturday, January 24th from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Oakland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Corinth Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 2403 Russ DeBerry Rd., Terra Alta, WV 26764.
