Lulubelle Friend

Lulubelle "Lou" Friend, 76, of Scenery Hill, PA, formerly of Friendsville, MD died on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on February 2, 1938 in Scenery Hill, she was the daughter of the late Clarence, Sr. and Sadie (Teagarden) Rice. She was known for her love of Bingo and her baking. Lou enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially "the boys", Hunter and Gus. She is survived by two sons, Freddie Friend and wife Gail of Pittsburgh, PA and Alan Leo Friend of McHenry, MD; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Tatum Friend; a daughter in law, Bonnie Friend of IA; a brother, Ernest Rice of Bentleyville, PA; two brother in laws, William C. Friend and Robert W. Friend, both of Oakland, MD; one sister in law, Arlene Friend of Oakland, MD; and many nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Jeannie Myers of Bentleyville, PA and Charlene Friend of Oakland, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Clifford D. Friend; four brothers, Charles, Clarence "Jack", Clifton and Robert Rice; three sisters, Geraldine (Bell) Trothowen, Josephine Feuhler and Alice Mae (Hines) Plutch; a sister in law, Marion Rice; and one niece, Geraldine "Gerry" Friend. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, MD on Monday, September 15th from 5 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, September 16th at 10 AM with Rev. Paul Goldizen officiating. Interment will follow in the Deep Creek Baptist (Thayerville) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UPMC Presbyterian's Medical and Health Sciences Foundation, 3600 Forbes Ave. & Meyran Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
